I stayed an extra day in Dawson Sunday to relax after driving 2,000 km on the Dempster. This gave me an opportunity to go back to the tailings along Discovery Creek and photograph the life that is emerging from the rock piles. The light was perfect.

It was gratifying to see new life emerging from all the strip mining and I'm fascinated by the undulating lines in the tailings as they come off the back of the dredge. These piles are likely 70 or more years old.
