The fanaticism of photography - up before dawn to capture the image

The alarm was set to get me up before dawn on our last full day in Halifax before flying home - all so I could get the 'right' light at Peggy's Cove. And yes, I did bring Starbucks back to Dena afterwards. The early alarm was worth it, even more so as the hordes of tourists and buses weren't there yet to get in the way of my planned shots. I was however shocked to find lots of cars in the parking lot with dozens of people sitting on the rocks to watch the sunrise. Fortunately for me none were interested in the scene I was focused on.

It's easy to see why so many photographers spend time in these small fishing ports. So many interesting images to capture, so much character and history to see, including dory's well past their useful life.

And dory's with a new lease on life as storefront decorative pieces surrounded by the older-style wooden lobster pots.

Of course, no visit to Peggy's Cover is complete without the obligatory lighthouse image.
